About Crabby Bob’s Seafood Inc.
We are a family-owned and operated fresh fish shop and experience in Campbell River, BC, specializing in local, sustainable seafood. Our 780 sq. ft. floating fish and seafood outlet sells mouth-watering live, fresh, processed, and cooked specialties.
The business was started in 1998 by Crabby Bob, who began selling crab on the dock from his boat and shortly afterward constructed a float building that expanded the business.
Over the years, the business has grown and changed hands through friendship. My father-in-law Ray took over the enterprise in 2011, but unfortunately, he became ill two years later, and that’s when I (Crabby Abby) started wrangling crab.
We are open all year round and see many visitors in the summer months. Due to the sheer demand for our fresh fish, we are available seven days a week in the summer and five days a week during the winter. We also have remained accessible during the pandemic.

Besides, we share knowledge about our fish and educate clients about where we get our products, including tracing their natural habitat.
What also sets us apart is our dedication to customer service, as we love serving people. We are committed to bringing families together and offering them healthy, sustainable meal options.
Whether it’s a tasty platter or a delicious entree, we always go above and beyond to understand what our customers desire. Besides, our favorite part of being at the shop is seeing excited people, mostly children, experience live crabs. Our ability to make people smile has made us successful over the years.
One of our most significant achievements has constantly been evolving and staying relevant. When I took over the shop, it wasn’t a smooth transition, as my father-in-law fell ill and passed away after two weeks. Suddenly, the crab shack fell into my lap, and I knew very little about how the fishing industry operated. I was aware that I would have to overcome a steep learning curve, so I embraced the opportunity and tackled the challenges put in front of me.
Fast forward, eight years and I’ve now grown the team to ten employees. With their loyal assistance, I’ve managed to establish the business as a staple in the community.
As a result, we’re proud to receive rewards and recognition for our service. It includes scooping local awards and nominations from the Chamber of Commerce, Trip Advisor, Yelp, and accolades from our local newspapers.
Our dream for the future is to look for positive ways to improve. In this endeavor, we are looking to import different seafood ideas from across the globe as we play host to international visitors.
We also believe in giving back to society, and as Rotarians, we donate to many local organizations that host fundraisers throughout the year. We also support our local soup kitchen and feed local folks who pop by our shop and are hungry.
